Your August 2021 Calendar for Dollywood

Take advantage of summer winding down in August and explore Dollywood in Pigeon Forge! Dolly Parton’s theme park is designed to inspire and entertain people of all ages, and it’s the perfect addition to your August 2021 calendar. Dollywood is full of Southern, small-town charm with sunshine and smiles for all who visit. Whether you’re a daredevil or a sightseer or someone simply looking for things to do this summer, there’s something for everyone at Dollywood!

Dollywood Express

If you’re not sure where to start and want to get a lay of the land, then hop on the Dollywood Express for a twenty-minute train ride through the park and scope out all the can’t-miss spots. This authentic coal-burning train is fun for kids and adults of all ages as you sit in the open-air train cars and take a short and sweet five-mile trip around the park.

Lightning Rod

If you’re brave enough to try one of the fastest wooden coasters in the world, then hop in line for Lightning Rod with its 165-foot drop and speeds greater than 70 mph! Cool off on a warm summer day while you fly through the air on one of the best roller coasters in the whole country!

Drop Line

Enjoy a nice ride up 20 stories on Drop Line and experience a 360-degree view of Dollywood and the Great Smoky Mountains. But don’t forget about the drop as you plummet back to the ground in an exhilarating rush!

Daredevil Falls

Need to cool off on a bright, sunny day? Venture over to Daredevil Falls, where you’ll hop in and enjoy a log ride with plenty of splashes and even a 60-foot waterfall drop! If you’re looking for more water rides and fun in the water and sun, you also can check out Dollywood’s Splash Country located just next door to the theme park. The water park offers more than 30 slides on 16 attractions!

Country Fair

Take a trip to Dollywood’s Country Fair, where you’ll relive all your favorite memories with nostalgic flat rides, play games to win prizes and even enjoy  delicious blue-ribbon menu items as you explore more of the park.

Back Porch Theater and Valley Theater

Dollywood is always home to fun, family-friendly entertainers with performances at seven theaters throughout the park. I recommend enjoying a show at one of the open-air theaters like the Back Porch Theater or the Valley Theater. You will even find live bands and roaming performers in unexpected places. You’ll enjoy live entertainment from wherever you are in the park. Take it all in as you stop and enjoy the sights and sounds of the talent available in the foothills of the Smoky Mountains.

Eagle Mountain Sanctuary

One of the most unique shows to Dollywood and the great state of Tennessee involves entertainers who may not sing, but they sure do soar! Dollywood is home to the Eagle Mountain Sanctuary– the largest home to non-releasable bald eagles in the whole country. The Wings of America show features up-close looks at bald eagles and other fun and friendly birds of prey.

Grist Mill Cinnamon Bread

You can’t come to Dollywood without trying our world-famous Grist Mill cinnamon bread – and even get a t-shirt to commemorate the occasion! The sweet scent of cinnamon bread wafts throughout the park and reminds you to grab this delightfully popular treat no matter what time of day. For a salty snack, try one of the butterfly-shaped hot pretzels as you make your way through the park. Also, try Dollywood’s homemade kettle corn made right here in the park every day.

Aunt Granny’s Restaurant

There are so many restaurant options as you stroll through the park, but Aunt Granny’s cannot be missed. Named after one of Dolly’s affectionate nicknames from her family, Aunt Granny’s serves up a family-style meal with a homemade spread of delicious Southern fixings, including baked mac ‘n cheese, mashed potatoes, greens and fried chicken. Aunt Granny’s always has a line full of eager fans, so try to eat at non-peak meal times to avoid the larger crowds.

Craftsman Valley

Shoppers will especially enjoy Craftsman Valley, where you can explore handmade items and gifts for the home and even craft your own hand-dipped candles! Check out all the artisans and unique goods as you slow down to appreciate simpler times. Craftsman’s Valley is unlike what you’d expect to find in a theme park, so be sure to put it on your list!

Mountain Laurel HOME

As you shop, don’t forget to visit Mountain Laurel HOME for some sweet, southern home décor inspired by life in the mountains. Decorate your home or cabin with decorative pillows and cozy throws designed to remind you of the peace and simplicity of mountain life.

Chasing Rainbow Museum

Take a break from fun in the sun and visit the Chasing Rainbow Museum where you’ll get an up-close look at Dolly’s memorabilia, including awards, famous gowns and outfits and even handwritten lyrics of your favorite songs. Throw on your new “Good Golly, Miss Dolly” t-shirt and take a selfie outside of Dolly’s tour bus in front of the museum or the replica of Dolly’s Tennessee mountain childhood home located not far from the museum in Rivertown Junction.

A trip to Dollywood is a full-sensory experience, from the flavors of Dollywood’s award-winning menus to the sounds of live music and the bright theming to incredible thrill rides. Be sure to make room on your August 2021 calendar for Dollywood and a trip your family will never forget!
