FUTURE PLANS: Dollywood’s Half-A-Billion-Dollars Investment

We’re growing again!

When I first started at Dollywood, I had no idea what was about to happen. As a matter of fact, when I interviewed, I learned that the company would soon begin some very ambitious projects that would continue to set us apart as a complete family destination.

That was in November of 2012. Wild Eagle was still a young eaglet, and no one knew we’d soon be visiting Crazy Charlie’s Fireworks Emporium at FireChaser Express, or peeling out on Lightning Rod. Since then, we’ve created a world-class resort and added exciting attractions like RiverRush and TailSpin Racer at Dollywood’s Splash Country.

Well as the cliché goes, “we’re growing again.”  Dolly announced today the next steps in Dollywood’s growth—and, wow, is it big!

Over the next 10 years, The Dollywood Company will invest half-a-billion dollars across its properties.

The new HeartSong Lodge is located adjacent to Dollywood’s DreamMore Resort and Spa, and will be an amazing property. It is set to open in 2023.

Here is a brief description of the new resort:

Tucked away in a beautiful cove in the rolling foothills of the Great Smoky Mountains, Dollywood’s HeartSong Lodge & Resort is a well-appointed, reimagined property that features a variety of accommodations and amenities. Our ‘reimagined lodge’ is designed to bring that intangible feeling to life, honor everything that makes the Smokies special, and invite you to experience the wonders of finding your own heartsong.

Welcoming the outdoors in with high ceilings, exposed beams and natural layered textures, Dollywood’s newest resort offers lodging options for multi-generational families and couples. Spacious family suites and bunk rooms feature lovely touches that are inspired by the beauty of the Smokies, inviting guests of all ages to gather for meaningful connections.

For one-of-a-kind getaways, the five-story resort also features themed suites and loft rooms tucked into the dormers. Many of the resort’s spacious rooms include balconies, which provide a “place among the leaves” for families to escape everyday stresses while reconnecting.

This reimagined Smoky Mountain lodge features four-story, lantern-inspired windows in the resort’s welcoming atrium, epic indoor and outdoor pools that provide guests a refreshing escape in all seasons, and a picture-perfect outdoor cove with family gathering spaces, communal firepit and screened-in porch. With 26,000 sq. ft. of flexible indoor and outdoor meeting space, the property can accommodate gatherings for several hundred guests. From the two-story HeartSong Event Center to spacious outdoor meeting spaces and event lawn, the resort offers numerous options to provide a unique and inspiring setting for groups.

Sounds pretty awesome, doesn’t it? We are all very excited about it, and if the guest comments and experiences at DreamMore Resort and Spa are any indication, it will quickly become one of your new favorite locations in the Smokies.

About the Author:

While he is originally from Gate City, Virginia, Wes Ramey has long considered Dollywood and the Smoky Mountains region his second home. Many weekends of the year, he would travel with his parents and grandparents to the Smokies to enjoy some his favorite attractions in the area, including the Space Needle, the Gatlinburg Sky Lift, go karts, and of course, Dollywood. Based on his love as a three-year-old for Dollywood’s Convoy ride (there is a picture on his desk), Wes first told his parents he wanted to become a truck driver when he grew up. He also enjoyed the Flooded Mine because: A.) it was the only ride his mamaw was brave enough to ride, and B.) she was usually scared halfway through! When Wes isn’t working to tell people about the awesome things you can do at Dollywood with your family (scaring your grandparents doesn’t count), he enjoys spending time with his wife Lyndsey and young children. Most of his days are filled with reading Imagination Library books and baking imaginary cupcakes for tea parties, but when he has time, he enjoys anything with wheels and an engine. While Wes doesn’t own his own race car (yet), he does enjoy watching the professionals do their thing each week. For now, he fulfills his need for speed on Lightning Rod, Thunderhead, Wild Eagle and the Rockin’ Roadway!
