Who’s on your Christmas list? What’s on your things-to-do-this-Christmas list? I have great news for you. You can come play at Dollywood AND check off that list. As a veteran Dollywood Christmas shopper, I’m here to help you brainstorm some gift ideas as you take in all that our Smoky Mountain Christmas festival has to offer. Below, I’ve listed a few categories of people for whom you may be shopping.
Gifts for Children
Whether you are shopping for your own kids, a niece/nephew, children you babysit, etc. Dollywood has a lot to offer.
Parents always appreciate clothing—and Dollywood has onesies, t-shirts, hats, winter gloves and even fun house shoes! Check Temple’s Mercantile and Dollywood Emporium. (I spotted the shoes in Valley Wood Carvers.)
Beyond apparel, Dollywood carries Chuggington toys (my train-loving boys adore this series!), plush dolls and animals (hello, little Dolly!), and even fun child-sized backpacks. All of these finds are from Dollywood Emporium.
There are games and books. One year, I bought an Usborne Wind Up Tractor Book—a couple years later, it’s still a hit at my house. (From Hillside General Store.)
I also love the idea of personalizing a bat for your little athlete. I found these at Valley Wood Carvers.
I want to pause here to tell you: if you’re bringing children to Dollywood as you shop—which, I recommend you do because they tend to get cranky if you exclude them from a Dollywood trip—there’s a fun note I want to include. Take a break from shopping to buy something for your family to enjoy. There’s an interactive wand for the Wonderful Christmas show at The Plaza at Wilderness Pass. (You know, where the ginormous Christmas tree is.) The wand is on sale for $10—that’s including tax. It changes color with the tree and it’s a hit with kids. You can read more about it HERE.
After eyeing the silhouette cut-outs for a few years, I’m finally going to get some for both sets of grandparents. (I coordinated with my brother and his wife as well as my brother and sister-in-law to be sure we could do this for all the grandchildren. My parents and in-laws will be so proud to hang these! If you’d rather go the comedic route, caricature drawings are just as personal.
How about a personalized sign? It could be an address, “Grandpa’s Garage,” or whatever! This item is one of Dollywood’s best-sellers. Stop by Valley Wood Carvers or Blacksmith and Foundry. This option will take a few weeks, so plan accordingly.
My mother-in-law loves cardinals. Look at all the gifts I found for her in Smoky Mountain Christmas Cottage!
If I’m shopping for my Aunt Linda, I know I can always find something she’ll love in Dolly’s Closet. From shoes to accessories to an outfit for a night on the town—there’s lots of bling in this store!
For the aspiring outdoorsman, I found this book at the Hillside General Store.
A real leather belt with your choice of design comes with a lifetime guarantee at Smoky Creek Leather. Read more about these gifts HERE.
I’m going to call this section teacher gifts, but it can be neighbor gifts, Secret Santa gifts, friend gifts and so much more. I like shopping at Dollywood because you can use your Gold Pass discount (20 percent!) on brands like Lodge, Kavu and Williams Sonoma.
I know I’m pragmatic, but great cookware is always an appreciated gift. There are lots of shops that carry these items at Dollywood.
I love the aprons and dishware I found in Southern Pantry.
These cute lunch bags and tumblers are in Dollywood Emporium.
How about a picnic blanket? As a mom, I know I always love to have big throws on-hand—whether we’re having a picnic in the living room, the backyard or taking it to the beach! You can find this in Dollywood Emporium.
You can find personalized Christmas ornaments in Smoky Mountain Christmas Cottage.
And while we’re talking about Christmas décor, you should definitely treat yourself! There’s lots of picks marked 50 percent off—and you can use your Dollywood Gold Pass discount on top of that! (I bought a few picks for my Christmas tree while shopping for others. It’s okay to reward yourself for being productive!)
I’m more than 500 words into this blog and I haven’t even mentioned the obvious Dollywood gift—sweet treats! Stop at the Sweet Shoppe and you’re sure to find lovely AND delectable goodies to share with friends this Christmas.
Gifts for the Dolly Fans
For the purpose of this gift guide, we’re going to assume Dolly fans and Dollywood fans are pretty much synonymous.
Yes, there’s a LOT of Holly Dolly Christmas merch this year. You can find her new album, t-shirts, mugs and more. This Dolly-inspired cookie baking set is located in stores throughout the park. And, don’t forget her new book. It’s a great coffee table book!
For those who love Dollywood, there’s also a lot of merchandise celebrating this 35th anniversary season. But, the 35th anniversary season will be in the books in a few short weeks. That means all things bearing the 35th logo is half off!
I will always advocate experiences over things. Things get broken, lost or forgotten. Experiences give you memories to cherish. A few years ago, I wrote about the top Dollywood experiences you can gift. This idea stands the test of time. Buying an experience gives you the opportunity tailor the gift to the recipient. You can check out my recommendations for the top Dollywood experiences to gift.
