Final Touches Include Festival of Nations Preparations

Along with wrapping up construction and maintenance projects that crews had to tackle in order to get Dollywood in tip-top shape for the 2020 season, our Special Events team is out there, too, prepping for Festival of Nations. (Click here to read about off-season work that’s been happening!)

Festival of Nations is in its 20th season this year. It’s a long-time friend because of all the fun that it brings. It’s a celebration of cultures from around the globe: Dollywood guests get to experience it all through an immersive atmosphere including food, music, entertainment and goods that are made around the world.

After a quick look-around, here’s what I can tell you about Festival of Nations setup:

The entry flags are ready to welcome you to Dollywood!

The prayer flags have been hung.

Did You Know?

Traditionally, prayer flags are used to promote peace, compassion, strength and wisdom. As the wind blows, these flags are a symbol of spreading goodwill.

Décor is staged.

This booth (and more) is ready for international goods. During this year’s festival, these items are authentic, handmade wares available for purchase from Africa and India.

Signs for the incredible menu offerings are posted. You are not going to want to miss our Passport to Food. You can prepare your taste buds now by checking out what our culinary team has planned: https://www.dollywood.com/themepark/Dining/Fesival-Of-Nations-Dining

Stage sets are in the process of installation. With as many groups and individual performers as we have during Festival of Nations, one of the key to-dos is to distribute the right number of microphones in the right places!

And, I’m particularly excited about the globe going up. It sits in Market Square—and this year, this look is brightened with brand new concrete. You’re going to love it. Crews were in the middle of placing the first concrete base for the globe when I stopped by. It will be gorgeous and spinning for you when you come see us!

Like the magic of the Smoky Mountains, the off-season work and festival prep always gets done and the park is always ready to welcome our guests back for another great season. See you next week!
