What is Picnic in the Park?

How do I plan lunch for my family while we’re enjoying Dollywood’s Splash Country? I’ll tell you that my game plan is better than it used to be. Prior to this season, I would round up the crew, talk through our options and stand in line for what we want. Is that what you do, too? Let me share with you a new way to do it.

Now, my lunch strategy starts here:

Before we ever get to the water park, I decide what we want from Picnic in the Park. Order it. Select the day we’re visiting. And then it’s ready for me when my family wants to eat. It’s part of the planning process included in thinking of things to do this fall.

How can you take advantage? In the Gourmet option, the sandwich bread is upgraded and you get to choose four desserts: any combination of brownies, cookies, or fruit cups. (I say go for the Gourmet!)

You’ll get a voucher. Print that and take it to the Picnic in the Park location. Look for it to the right of Campsite Grill, which is on the way to Little Creek Falls.

*Note: If you are staying in one of our Retreats, our Hospitality Team will bring it to you. Just call to let them know when you’d like to eat.

When you get to Picnic in the Park, look for the bag with your name on it in the cooler. It was made fresh for your family that morning—just like the sign says: Eat Fast. Eat Fresh.

Another cool perk—in addition to choosing your dessert (if you go Gourmet), you also choose your fountain drinks when you pick up your food. But, lean in because I have an inside tip: [*whispers*] the ICEE machines are located in Picnic in the Park and they’ve been letting families choose ICEEs! At a water park, this is a no-brainer!

I have one last tip for you—in case you forget to do this 24 hours before your visit. The cooler is also stocked with salads, wraps, fruit, etc.

You don’t have to order these items in advance! Just grab, pay and go!
