Behind the Scenes: In the Taste Kitchen

Have you ever wondered how people come up with new ideas for menu items? No? Me neither until I heard some of the hosts at Dollywood’s Splash Country talking about going to the “innovation lab” to do some food sampling in a taste kitchen. I invited myself to tag along (obviously). While this wasn’t initially in my list of things to do this spring, it definitely would be the next time around.

It sounded like a delicious afternoon—and I was curious. How do they decide what should go on the menu? And, how do they think up new ideas (a la Sm’oreo shake!)? Here’s a glance at what I learned.
