How It’s Made: Dollywood’s 25-pound Apple Pie

It’s so large, one slice can feed as many as four to six adults: Dollywood’s 25-pound apple pie was created in celebration of the park’s 25th anniversary season. The sweet treat was so popular, it never came off the menu. It takes 40 to 50 apples, depending on the size of the fruit, to fill this famous pie. Because it’s so large, it’s baked in a Lodge cast iron skillet.

There’s something extremely satisfying about watching the process. Click the video below to see how Dollywood Pastry Chef, Gidget, puts it together.

If you find yourself thinking that watching is not enough and you need to eat it, you can find this masterpiece in the Spotlight Bakery on Showstreet.

Did You Know?

You can buy it by the slice OR order an entire pie—skillet included—and have it shipped. Many guests purchase it for events like weddings or family reunions.
