Fall Break: College Road Trip!

Pack your bags, grab your besties and buckle up for a picture-perfect escape from campus.

For all the college students out there, it’s almost that special time of year: fall break! After two months of grueling work, I think we (students) can all agree that a couple days off is well- deserved, and what better way to spend these days than nestled right in the Great Smoky Mountains! Get ready to hit the open road, because you and your friends can now take a “mini vacay” that includes riding your favorite roller coaster and watching those autumn leaves change.

With offerings for each and every roommate, classmate, sorority sister or gym partner, the whole group will find some fun at Dollywood. Just a few hours from most Tennessee colleges and universities, as well as surrounding states, it has never been easier to carpool up to Dollywood and experience another spooky season of Great Pumpkin LumiNights.

I know what you are thinking. How could I possibly swing this trip on a college budget? Well, I have some tips on how you can make the most of your trip, all while getting the bang for your college student buck.

1. Carpool
First thing first, save on gas by choosing a designated driver and split the cost!

2. Pack the essentials
As college students, I’m sure you have heard it before, but never leave without a rain coat or umbrella! Up in the mountains, you are never sure when the next shower will hit, so it is always nice to save those extra dollars.

3. Book a stay at Dollywood’s DreamMore Resort and Spa
No Dollywood vacation is complete without a special overnight stay. Have a sleepover with your closest friends, order some room service and split the cost for a quick and affordable retreat! You can even take advantage of the free park shuttle and TimeSaver passes. Yes, I said it—free! These perks totally make the on-property stay worth it!

4. Split your meals
By splitting your lunch or dinner, you can splurge on the amazing snacks! Take it from me, you won’t want to miss the cinnamon bread…or funnel cake…or kettle corn.

5. Free water
At each dining location in Dollywood, cups of ice water are free! I think that deal speaks for itself.

6. Prepare to take a lot of pictures
With Great Pumpkin LumiNights starting Sept. 28, there are plenty of things to do and see. That being said, pack your portable charger. The character meet and greets, pumpkins and specialty food are all Instagram-worthy, and you don’t want to miss out on those moments.

7. Check out the special rates
Visit dollywood.com or call 1-800-DOLLYWOOD to see all of the best offers. Like your grades, they are always changing!

To all of those procrastinators out there, fall break is soon approaching! Start a group chat with your friends today and begin planning your campus escape. Affordable and entertaining for every college student, Dollywood offers the perfect thrills, or relaxing hills, for brand new college memories.
