Are You Ready to “Rock” the Smokies?

If you’re looking ahead to the end of summer and want to plan one last memorable experience, you need to put Dollywood’s Rock the Smokies on your calendar now. It is a great way to refresh and rejuvenate and put an exclamation point on your summer.

This annual festival has become a favorite for guests and families who are looking for an exceptional show with an inspiring message. Rock the Smokies takes place Saturday, Aug. 25 with three shows (1, 4, and 7 p.m.) scheduled to take place in DP’s Celebrity Theater. Rock the Smokies features great Christian artists throughout the park, with headliners Toby Mac and Crowder in Celebrity Theater.

Toby Mac is a six-time Grammy award winner who has been known in the Christian music industry since his days in DC Talk more than 30 years ago. Crowder is also a familiar face who has been producing contemporary hits since the mid-90’s. The Toby Mac/Crowder concerts on the main stage are separately ticketed. Zach Williams, Hollyn, and The Young Escape will be performing on stages throughout the park during the event that are included with park admission.

The best part? Not only do you get the amazing shows, you get to enjoy all the fun of Dollywood. There are discounts available for larger groups, so it is the perfect end-of-summer activity for student ministries, church groups and more. All of the featured acts change from season to season, so it really is a completely new experience each year.

About the Author:

While he is originally from Gate City, Virginia, Wes Ramey has long considered Dollywood and the Smoky Mountains region his second home. Many weekends of the year, he would travel with his parents and grandparents to the Smokies to enjoy some his favorite attractions in the area, including the Space Needle, the Gatlinburg Sky Lift, go karts, and of course, Dollywood. Based on his love as a three-year-old for Dollywood’s Convoy ride (there is a picture on his desk), Wes first told his parents he wanted to become a truck driver when he grew up. He also enjoyed the Flooded Mine because: A.) it was the only ride his mamaw was brave enough to ride, and B.) she was usually scared halfway through! When Wes isn’t working to tell people about the awesome things you can do at Dollywood with your family (scaring your grandparents doesn’t count), he enjoys spending time with his wife Lyndsey and young children. Most of his days are filled with reading Imagination Library books and baking imaginary cupcakes for tea parties, but when he has time, he enjoys anything with wheels and an engine. While Wes doesn’t own his own race car (yet), he does enjoy watching the professionals do their thing each week. For now, he fulfills his need for speed on Lightning Rod, Thunderhead, Wild Eagle and the Rockin’ Roadway!
