Is there any better way to enjoy the beauty of the Great Smoky Mountains than nestled in a cabin? If you ask me, the answer is no.
With breathtaking views and easy access to the best attractions in the area, Dollywood’s Smoky Mountain Cabins are the perfect cozy spot to enjoy your time in the Smokies. Whether you’re looking for an intimate getaway location or a family reunion space, your cabin is sure to feel like a home away from home. Before you start packing your bags, here are a few tips and tricks to make the most of your Smoky Mountain vacation.
Check out your cabin’s amenities beforehand
If you’re anything like me, there’s no better way to start the day than with a cup of coffee on the porch swing, surrounded by the beauty of the Smoky Mountains. All of Dollywood’s Smoky Mountain Cabins offer stunning views of the Smokies, but also come stocked with everything you need to make your cabin your home base. Most units have coffeemakers or Keurigs, dishwashers, kitchen supplies, washers and dryers and more. For a quiet evening in, televisions and free Wi-Fi are included in most cabins. Need a little more relaxation? Slip into the hot tub on the porch or enjoy a jacuzzi in the master suite. If you’re looking for specific amenities, check out the cabins’ website or call one of the hosts at Dollywood’s Smoky Mountain Cabins for more information on each cabin before you book your stay.
Make a packing list
It’s easy to forget things while packing up your family and yourself for a vacation. If you’re a fan of a packing list like me, then make sure to add these items to your list to get the most out of your time at your cabin and in the Smokies.
- Beach towels and bathing suit
Trust me, you’re going to want to take in the gorgeous views of the Smoky Mountains from the hot tub on the wraparound porch. Make sure to grab a beach towel or two to cut down on laundry and bring a bathing suit to enjoy a relaxing soak or a day at Dollywood Splash Country.
Sunscreen is a must when planning a visit in the warmer months. Whether you’re going on a hike in the Smokies, enjoying a day at Dollywood or Dollywood’s Splash Country or walking around The Island at Pigeon Forge, you don’t want to let a sunburn spoil your day.
- Cooler and backpack for hiking
A cabin vacation would be incomplete without a hike in the beautiful Smoky Mountains. With trails for all experience levels, children and adults alike can enjoy the amazing views the mountains offer. Make sure to bring a soft-shell cooler or insulated backpack to pack drinks and snacks for the hike.
- Comfy shoes
With so much to do in the area, comfy shoes are a must-have item. Your feet will thank you after a long day hiking in the Smokies or walking around Dollywood.
Find the closest grocery stores
One of the perks of staying in a cabin is the savings on eating out while on vacation. While you have to try some of the area’s most popular restaurants, or visit a dinner theater show like Dolly Parton’s Stampede, there are several grocery stores to stock up on your cabin essentials. The closest full-service grocery store is Food City on the Parkway, a quick 15 minute drive from Dollywood.
