Making the Most of New Year’s Eve!

Some progress is finally being made on my To Do list for the holidays as Christmas Day is drawing ever closer. For my own sanity, I’ve decided that I better move one important item up on the list – what are we doing New Year’s Eve? Because after all the presents have been opened, we want to have something else to enjoy together as we jump into 2018.

I like options for my New Year’s celebration as you never know what you are going to feel like doing after all the holiday craziness! Enter the event planners at Dollywood’s DreamMore Resort and Spa – they are giving me all kinds of options for my end of the year adventure. And as always, they are doing most of the thinking for me – I just have to choose between Plan E, C, D, or S. Now you’re interested, if for nothing else in what in the world Plan S is. So, here are some entertaining choices – obviously for me, but since you’re here, I’m going to share my knowledge with you. It is the season for giving after all!

So, first is Option E, and it’s all about having an elegant evening. If getting decked out and making yourself a candidate for the best dressed on New Year’s night, start with the amazingly deliciousness being offered at the resort’s Song & Hearth eatery. I cannot wait to try a little bit of everything on the bountiful buffet.

I am likely to decide that I want to just spend the evening having the family, so I’m moving on to Option C, which is a celebration for the whole gang. Can’t wait to participate in all the fun activities for the kids and food like a mac and cheese station, nachos galore with all the fixin’s, and dessert delights.

Ok, who am I trying to kid – it’s a pretty good bet that I am going to go with Option D – Dance Party Countdown to 2018! I might still start with some dressed-up dining in the great resort restaurant, but my big objective for New Year’s Eve is putting on my dancing shoes, donning a New Year’s party hat, grabbing some noise makers and asking the DreamMore DJ to spin my favorite tunes. Best part? I just have to make a reservation and tell those awesome party planners at the resort which option I’m going with for December 31 – they provide everything down to the party hat and New Year’s swag for all that celebrating!

Two other options that I would strongly encourage for your end-of-year plans – both stand for super! Option S(pa) is a must if I’m going to have the stamina to face all those evening activities, and what do you know… there’s a magnificent spa right there at the resort! I mean, I can’t face the dance party participants without a perfect pedicure or look my best without a Merry Winter Facial. Those appointments have already been checked off my To Do list for Dec. 31 – have to look at priorities first!

Option S(moky Mountain Christmas) will let you move that end of 2017 celebration right into the first three days of 2018 and the final time to experience Dollywood’s award-winning holiday festival. Hop on the resort trolley and ring in the New Year with fun, fun and more fun while riding rides, seeing shows and taking in the magnificence of those four million lights one more time.

I know I’ve added something to your holiday To Do list, but here’s the link to learning more about your New Year’s Eve options at Dollywood’s DreamMore Resort and Spa or just call 1-800-DOLLYWOOD. Facing the New Year and new To Dos doesn’t seem so daunting when New Year’s Eve offers so much fun!

If it has anything to do with East Tennessee, this Dollywood blogger loves it. Ellen Liston was born in Kingsport and grew up in a rural environment that she says has many similarities to the Sevier County area and the beautiful Smoky Mountains here. When she’s not at Dollywood or enjoying the multitude of activities and attractions in these mountains, Ellen can usually be found cheering on the Tennessee Volunteers, particularly at football and Lady Vols basketball games, or hanging out with her family – sometimes cheering on the Vols together! Some of her favorite things are reading almost any kind of book imaginable, history, crime dramas (especially Perry Mason and Forensic Files), old movies, ‘80s music, and most anything to do with her Scottish heritage, including kilts and bagpipes. She and her husband Scott live in South Knoxville on 6 acres with their yellow labs, Charlie and Rudy, and a Maine Coon cat with a major attitude, Sam.
