This Fall, Dollywood Is A Pumpkin Spice World!

I’m not one of those people who spends the entire fall in a pumpkin spiced haze, but the allure of fall food has always drawn me to the dinner table on a cool crisp autumn evening.

This year, Dollywood is introducing a new event to its already award-winning Harvest Celebration and Southern Gospel Jubilee presented by Humana. It’s called Great Pumpkin LumiNights and besides the incredible lighted pumpkin displays providing that nighttime fall vibe, the park is adding some featured food elements that will make Mr. October think it’s a home run.

Because life is short, let’s skip right to the sweets. The confectionary creators at Dollywood have outdone themselves with some culinary perfection for this festival. Let me start with a treat as an appetizer to your sweet feast. Four words: Candy Corn Kettle Corn. Let that sink in. In each bite, there is the crunch of that slightly salty sweet kettle corn with the incredible taste of that once-a-year Halloween delicacy candy corn. It is like all the treats in your trick or treat bag in one incredible sweet appetizer.

If you want something more substantial, right in the center of the illuminated excitement, Lumberjack Pizza is offering a new chicken and Applewood smoked bacon pasta in a cream sauce. It is a nice savory warm meal to offset your sweet appetizer. If you are still hungry, you can top off the meal with a rustic apple tart cooked in their wood-fired pizza oven. Classic autumn!

After exploring the displays of Great Pumpkin LumiNights, if you still have a hankering for more pumpkin spice, the piece de resistance may be the pumpkin spice funnel cake available at Splinters next to the FireChaser Express and at Crossroads Funnel Cakes in Market Square. It is light, fluffy and has a taste of fall in every bite.

Now, plenty of you are already pumpkin spice-aholics and Dollywood satisfies with a selection of hot and cold beverages: full autumn flavor from apple to pumpkin ciders, teas, coffees, mochas and cappuccinos. There is even a candy corn quencher served in a souvenir lighted mug!

As the evening winds down, don’t forget to grab a take-home treat – a bag of that delectable Candy Corn Kettle Corn. It is a fall gift that keeps on giving all the way home!
